i want to keep track of time as displayed in vegas. I am making a spreadsheet and need to keep track of the time of an event on a video. is there a way to copy so i can paste it somewhere else instead of manually entering the time?
    thanks

To grab the details of every Event on your timelime:

    a. Alt-6 (Edit Details dialog)
    b. Change droplist to Events
    c. Select All fields or Active Takes from second droplist
    d. Select All cells – click the top, leftmost cell (above “1”, left of “Track”)
    e. Ctrl-C
    f. in Excel, paste

    Thanks for the reply
    but…
i really only need the time as displayed on the screen. I am using vegas more like a stopwatch to time things happening in the video. i find a particular moment ie a guys foot crossing a line and then when he crosses another mark, i can subtract times to figure out how long it took. Right now i have to type in the time displayed on a spreadsheet and then move the video forward and type down that time. subtract and i have the time. 35 different people and i start to have typos. So if i could copy and paste to the sheet, my crappy typing skills would be less involved.

You could try using Markers. Use the same method as above but filter the Edit Details dialog by Markers instead of Events. I would just copy/paste everything and then remove the columns you don’t need. Use Excel to calculate the time differentials.

Drop a marker at the beginning and end of each segment you need timed.
Then do as Tyson suggested but change Events in part b to Markers.
