    Hi guys!
I have imported a DV tape (shot in 16:9) in anamorphic pal, done some edits and want to export the tape in it’s original aspect ratio – 16:9, again.

No matter what variables i put in the export window, the movie comes out in 4:3. Actually the more anamorphic i make the file, the more 4:3-ish it comes out…

I am quite sure I have taken a wrong turn somewhere in the process – but where?

I look forward to any help I can get, so thx in advance 🙂

    Kind regards

    Ron

    Hi Ron,
Thats normal. QT play the pixels as Square instead of Anamorphic. If you print to video or go to DVD, the movie will be Anamorphic.

    Hi Rafael,
I’ll be damned – thought it was something like that. I’ll experiment in the weekend. Thanks a bunch, Mate 🙂

    Hey Rafael,
Ok we have been testing a little:
Do you mean that I can work with the original Anamorphic capture, as long as I Print to DVD/Video?

The thing is, that I’ll use the edit as a Media file on the internet.

Does the print suggestion still apply?

I was thinking of trying to re-capture, but non-anamorphic – is that doable?

    Thanks again.

    Best regards

    Ron

    Hi Ron,
What I mean is that the movie is Anamorphic even if is shown wrong in QT.
Think that if you make videos for the web you will end up in Square pixels.
If you want your clip to be and look really 16×9 in a computer screen, you need to export your clip keeping this proportion 16×9.
You can export 720×405 (better 720×404 0r 720×406. Avoid odd numbers). If you want it smaller, you can use 480×270, 360×202, etc
You can export with those sizes with QT, WM or Flash. The picture will display in computers properly 16×9.
