  • Exporting subtitled video changes the brightness where there are subtitles

    Hello,
I am exporting a large file out of FCP7 with Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ). There are subtitles. When I play it back in Quicktime, every time there is a subtitle, the whole image gets brighter, then the subtitle ends and the image gets darker. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I want the file to be 1920×1080 and uncompressed, I can try a different codec but do not want something that is going to compromise the quality at all, there are really subtle tonal gradations moving throughout. I tried H264 and it made them into bands of digital noise.
    THANKS!

I just encountered a similar issue. Try exporting using File>Export>Quicktime Movie…” then ENABLE “recompress all frames”.

Thanks, I will try it, I have had better luck when I render everything before exporting and try to go File>export>Quicktime Movie Rather than Using Quicktime Conversion and choosing Apple Pro Res.
I will look for the Recompress all frames option.
