Exporting Selected Clips
I’m new to Premiere Pro 1.5 (Windows) and have a question on exporting video.
I have captured my audio/video, and have it all saved in one large AVI file. In Premiere I have edited (split the clips using the Razor tool) to trim down to just what I want to keep for export. I plan to take the exported AVI files and use them in Encore to burn to DVD as individual chapters, as it seems there’s no easy way to do this within Premiere.
I tried the “Export to DVD” option, and set timeline markers at the beginning of each clip. I consistently get Unknown Error msgs during the transcode process. I have no idea what is causing this, but…
…as an alternative I tried the File | Export | Movie option. I’ve tried turning off the “Enable” property for the clips, but upon exporting the “Entire Sequence” setting seems to ignore whether a clip is enabled or not. Each time it still seems to be exporting all clips on the timeline.
I’ve read the manual on this but cannot see a way to export only selected clips on a timeline. Is there a way to do this?

Disabling clips simply makes the clip black and is exported regardless. If you do not want a specific clip to export, remove it from the timeline.

Thanks for your reply. When I try to drag the clip off the timeline and up into the Project window, it shows as an unavailable place to put the clip. The issue here is that I’m try to avoid having to re-edit the large video file as I’ve already done that – all the editing I did was on the Timeline. Is this not the proper place to do this?
Once I’ve made edits, I’d think I should have someplace to hold those clips until I need them, or as a holding place pending further editing. Am I not understanding how Premiere operates?

Let me clarify a few basics.
Project Window: Stores all your footage
Timeline: All the editing is done here
Program Monitor: Your edits are viewed in this monitor[magnare] “Once I’ve made edits, I’d think I should have someplace to hold those clips until I need them, or as a holding place pending further editing.”
That is why you need to use nested sequence. You edit a small portion of your project in one sequence and work on other small sections in new sequences. When your project is completed, create a new sequence and join all the sequences together.
