  • Exporting Quicktime Ref causing FCP 5 to crash

I’m trying to export a quicktime reference file to run through the bitvise encoder on a long form show. The show is a 2 part 90 minute documentary captured at 8 bit uncompressed. The part 1 reference file exported beautifully, but part 2 won’t go.

Here’s a short list of what I’ve tried so far (not in this order):
    – trashed prefs
    – made sure only part 2 timeline is open.
    – changed the export drive (the drive the file would be saved on)
    – safe booted and verified permissions
    – reinstalled the capture card drivers
    – restarted multiple times
    – played part 2 all the way through
    – checked, double checked, and triple checked drive connections

It crashes every time. Any ideas?

    Brad,
Try exporting Video only (you don’t need Bitvice to do the audio, do you?)

    2 things to consider:
Maybe try exporting Part 2 in several segments and joining them later (this will also help identify whether or not you have a faulty clip/render/file and if so, its location in the sequence.)

Maybe try exporting Part 2 with just the base layer, then try with layer 2, etc, to establish what might be causing the problem.

    Good Luck.
