    Okay,

I know that this has been discussed here before. yet I am a little confused as to codecs and the science behind DV.

I have a 90 minute production shot on mini-dv with a Sony DVX2100 camera. The footage was captured into the computer via an old DVREX-M1 card.

Now that the production is finished it needs to be placed onto several different tape mediums: DVCAM, DigiBeta and BetaSP. A local production house recommended that I export the project as an uncompressed AVI. I did that and, of course the file is huge (210 gigs).

However, I have no way to know how that file looks as my machine has difficulty playing the uncompressed file format.

My question is this: is the uncompressed file needed to bump the project to DVCAM? How about DigiBeta?

Would it be better to create masters on those formats directly from a mini dv tape instead of from an uncompressed file?

I had read elsewhere that Premiere Pro may have some difficulty creating a smooth uncompressed avi file?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

DV and DVcam contain the same data, you can output DV to a DVcam deck,
you can use one of https://www.convergent-design.com/ converters to get to the other decks, or use a card from https://www.blackmagic-design.com/ , while outputing to uncompressed may seem like a solution, up converting doesn’t add quality as popularly believed and posiblely can add problems in the up and down conversions.
