  • Exporting QT ref movies takes long time

I’ve just gotten into some very mysterious thing:

I’m currently having four sequences with DV25. Output is IoHD. All sequences rendered fine.

Two of the sequences have mixed P2 footage (DV50) and DV25 in them.

Sequence lengths are 35 and 45 mins.

When I’m exporting a QT ref move (not self-contained) it takes very long time and the ref movie is very big. Any ideas why? It takes about twice real-time to export the QT movie (17 mins for the 35 mins sequence) on our Mac Pro 8-core with 6 GB RAM.

    Any ideas?

I’m also experiencing the same thing if I export sequnces where all clips are same video format.

Could this be an issue not setting the sequence to ProRes422 (IoHD native format)?
I see no point in doing so, since it’s SD footage for DVD or web delivery. (and you end up rendering every clip you put in the timeline, too…)
