  • Exporting QT from Motion To FCP Problem

    Hi,

I’ve been making short graphic sequences in Motion to use in FCP as dividers to in a promo video. When I export from Motion the QT movies that are produced are from the default setting (HDV 1080i50) because my camera used this setting to record the original footage. The QT movies which are created by exporting from Motion are 720×576. When I place these in FCP they are cropped on the width and don’t fill the canvas properly.

If Motion, FCP and QT all have the same (HDV 1080i50) setting why is QT cropping the exported clips.
Do I have to change Motion’s export settings QT settings or FCP.

    Thanks

    Mmmm.

    Hi Marc,

did you work this out? I have the same problem. clips that I work on in motion are saving back into my FCP sequence with a crop. I would appreciate any advice I know this was 2008 when you posted. Can you remember what you did?

    Thanks

    Robert

When you export out the clip you can change the size of the footage to match your FCP sequence if you are having trouble.
