  • exporting project to tape…

    Hello,

I am attempting to export my HDV project back to tape for storage. I clicked on the “tools” menu and then selected “print video to HDV tape.” I clicked on “1080 60i” and then it renders my project. At the end it gave me a countdown screen (10 seconds) to allow me time to hit record on my camera/deck. However, it completed the countdown and then stated that no device was connected. How do I get this countdown screen back to try it again? I have my camera connected via firewire and it is on VCR mode. Am I missing anything else?

What’s your camera make & model?
Does your camera’s manual say anything about the procedure for doing this?
I’m asking because there almost always seems to be a discrepancy between the way you think it should work and the way it actually works.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have a Canon XH-A1. My main concern is how to get the countdown screen back without having to render that whole file again.

I looked through the manual and there are 2 separate sets of instructions on pages 106 and 109 for feeding an HDV signal to this camera, neither of which directly address your issue.

For example, p. 106 says feed an HDV siganl to the input jack, set the camcorder to HDV in and press the Rec button.
    P. 109 says Set [PLAYBACK STD] TO [HDV] and [HDV DOWN-CONV] to OFF.
Could they be any more obtuse??

Sorry for not being of more help but, unless someone else has an idea, it sounds like you’re on your own 🙁

    Mike,

    Thanks again for your reply.

I also found the info on page 106. I’m now hoping that someone might have an idea about how I can get that countdown screen back so I don’t have to re-render my whole project again.

    Thanks
