IN NEED OF SOME HELP! We’re trying to export our project from FCP4 HD to Studio Pro and part of the audio has dropped out mid way only to re-appear futher down the time line. Everything in the timeline plays back correct when veiwing in FCP but after the transfer to Quicktime to Studio Pro the problem accures. In other words, when playing project back in Studio Pro we have the the problem… Any thoughts? thanks!

Try exporting a new self-contained QT movie without the audio. Then make sure all your audio is rendered in the FCP timeline. Export the audio separately using the ‘audio to aif’ command in the export window. Use Compressor to encode the movie, A. Pack to encode the audio. You can then import these two assets into DVDSP and drop them into a track. This has been my workflow for quite some time now and I’ve never had any audio dropouts or sync issues.

Using AC3 file format audio will also prove to be more DVD player ‘friendly’, as the high bit rates of .aif audio tend to make some players choke.
