    Hey all,

I have filmed some skateboarding footage using a Canon XM1e (PAL DV), captured it and edited the footage in Vegas 14. I’m curious as to what format I should render the final video, and what settings should accompany it. Obviously keep the resolution, pixel aspect ratio and frame rate (720×576, 1.0926, 25) the same as the raw footage, but really I’m unsure what file format I should export it as. I’m used to using .mp4 as I usually edit HD footage but I’m guessing it’ll be something like mpg, mov, avi for Mini DV footage? Also, settings about de-interlacing/frame blending – should I fiddle with those or leave them stock? The final output will probably just be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo.

Any help or pointers in the right direction are appreciated, thanks.

    Hi David

My suggestion is to read what Vimeo and Youtube recommend. Both will re-compress your file. That is why you should follow their guidelines in order to get the best results once on-line.
