  • EXPORTING OMF from FCP Studio problems

    Hi there,

2 differente sound mixing stations are having problems importing the OMFs I exported from FCP studio 2. The file is OMF 2.0 and I’ve never had this problem before. The only thing I’m doing differently here is that I’m sending the file via FTP instead of just burning a CD.

So, where’s the issue? Is it on the my end or in their end of the process?

I would appreciate any advices ASAP!

    Thanks a lot, guys!

You might try creating an archive before you FTP, in case the file is being corrupted as it passed through the FTP protocol.

Select the file, under the finder go to file menu, create archive will zip the file, and then it will decompress at the other end when they double click it.

    Thanks Steven,

Now, I was just informed they’re trying to open the OMF on with AVID, not on PRO TOOLS.

Should that matter? Can Avid read the omf FCP exports?

I don’t think so without the Automatic Duck Pro Importer.

You can’t open them directly on an Avid.

If they have Pro Tools, they can open it and then immediately export it with “Force Avid Compatibility” turned on.
