  • Exporting MY FCP Short For First Time

I have to export my film, it’s HD 720p. The goal is to make a dvd out of it. I chose Mpeg-2 and discovered that Mpeg-2’s do not contain audio during playback.

So my question is, what is the best method to export my film if the purpose is to then import it into DVD Studio Pro.

i.e. Mpeg vs. Quicktimes and which one will be no problem with audio during playback using Quicktime Player?

Second question, I selected the sequence in the Browser then chose File, Export. Should I have highlighted all the clips in the sequence then export the sequence, or does it not matter which one I choose.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Export the sequence using QuickTime Movie. Take that to Compressor to make the MPEG-2 video file and to compress the audio. Take those to DVDSP to author the DVD.

    All the best,

    Hi Terry

Not sure if you have figured this out yet but when you export from FCP using compressor you will need to create a seperate audio file as well as the MPEG2 (from memory I think the type of audio file I use is Dolby Digital 5.1). You then import these both into DVD Studio Pro and drag them both onto a track. At least this is the way I always do it and I have never had any problems.
Re exporting the sequence, my method is to select the timeline, mark and in at the beginning of the sequence and mark an out at the end of the sequence then export. I never highight an indiividual clips and am not sure what effect this would have.
    Hope this is useful.
