  • Exporting menu to Encore 2.0?

Posted by Damien Carr on April 22, 2006 at 4:12 am

So I followed the tutorial about creating an Encore menu from after effects, and I can not import it! The tutorial does not cover how to save the file into something that is importable. In Encore, when I go to import menu, it will only let me import PSD files and .em files. What step am I missing? Thanks!

    Hi
In AE go to Composition>Save Frame As>Photoshop Layers.
Now you can import the PSD file as a menu in Encore!!

That only works if the menu he made is a still.

If the menu is a video, then you can’t make the buttons in after effects. You make the whole menu, minus buttons, and render it out as whatever type of video file you want to use. Then in Encore, you import as ASSET, not as MENU. Then, make a new, blank menu by choosing one of the ‘Blank Menu’ presets in Encore’s library. Then, in that menu’s properties, you set the ‘Video’ link to the video you made. It will set it as the Background for that menu. For the buttons, you make them and add them on seperately, using Photoshop and Encore.

Note: If you have Production studio, then you can skip the step of rendering the video out. Instead of importing as Asset, go File>Dynamic Link>Import After Effects Composition, and find the comp. Then set THAT as the ‘video’ for the menu.

    Hope that helped.

I watched the tut too… incomplete.
Complete your menu up to the point were the tutorial ends.
Render your AE created menu as a normal Viseo file that u can import, but for the buttons to work, export as Photoshop layers from AE… THEN import PSD into Encore.
Have rendered video in background and PSD buttons will be seperate.

I know this seems like a kind of broken description, but thats because Im stugglin through this as well.
