Exporting in Final Cut
Hello, I am trying to make a DVD in DVD Studio Pro and I want chapters in my movie, so I exported as a quicktime movie, I used the the current settings and chapter markers for DVD Studio Pro, the file came out as 4.89 GB and it has all the chapter markers, however I’m not to pleased with the quality, Now I have also exported using quick time conversion, this time it comes out as 2.12 GB and the quality looks so much better, the crispness from editing in Final Cut is still there I am very pleased with this quality but there is no chapter markers with it, now a DVD training series from Lindy.com on DVD Studio Pro recommends using export quick time movie they state that the quality is as good and the file size is much smaller, however I have seen the opposite so my question is am I doing something wrong? should I be doing something different when exporting? also if I decide to use quicktime conversion as my final exporting style is it possible to get the chapter markers in the video?

ok…not to sure what this has to do with exporting, I have watched this before, I’m past the hole importing my video into final cut, I have done all my edits and I am on the exporting process as stated above, I’m not to sure if that was clear hence the title “Exporting in Final Cut”

you need to stay under 4.3GB in size.
Have you:Exported from FCP using “Current Settings” ?
Drop that file into Compressor.
Choose a DVD preset.
Adjust frame control and data rates?Do you have chapter markers in the FCP sequence?

I did use Current setting while exporting, I also did put chapters in Final Cut but I don’t understand why it’s such a bigger file then quick time conversion also the quality is not near what it was when doing quick time conversion at the moment I haven’t dropped the movie into compressor because I’m not happy with the quality of the video so far

So I have been messing with my sequence settings and the video is SD with some HD footage that is interviews so I have decided to go with 3:2 size, my compressor settings is DV/DVCPro – NTSC but when I use Animation as the compressor the video quality is exactly as I would like it but the size of the movie is huge

The size of your export movie will depend of the export codec, also the quality will depend on the export codec. More picture quality with less smaller file size its doesn’t exists.
DV makes small files but degrades the picture much more than Animation.
Anyway is not DV neither Animation your best option.
Export to DV50, 8b Unc or Prores. Set “Reder in high precision”.
