I own FCP 5 but i am having alot of difficulty exporting out. I have a picture sequance which is at a frame size of 4080×2720. The qualty of the pictures are high quality and shot on the camera setting medium which is the frame size (4080×2720)

My sequance settings is 720×480 NTSC DV(3.2) with a pixel aspect ratio of NTSC-CCIR 601 / DV (720X480). Field Dominance is/ lower (even) and finally the compressor is DVCPRO50-PAL

Every time i try to export using quicktime convertor or the standard quicktime movie the video is awful quality. In the canvas the video/pictures are perfect but as soon as i export it changes. I have tried every setting in exporting and dont know what else to try. Has anyone got any other suggestions as i would greatly appreciate it as i would like to know where im going wrong.

I am just wondering if it has anything to do with FCP reading highqualty pictures as i cant read any sort of HD footage from HD cams or even export out as a HD setting

Thanks and please let there be some one who knows the answer to this its killing me
    ps
i have sliders set to best ect and i have tried different codecs

    Hi Williams,
The size of your picture is out of the FC’s specs (2K or so).
The best you can do is to use AE, Shake (I guess Motion too) cause they can manage that size without problem and have better downscaling filters than FC.
Whatever you do, don’t export to DV unless you intend to print to DV tape.
Any other codec (from DV50 up) will yields better quality.

Yeah I understand that but my friend can do the same thing in imovie on the latest
Mac book pro. When he exports the video is perfect at the settings I have already said
So why is it different on mine ? Maybe because my mac is three years old and I have fcp5 ?
