I have some problems with exporting files from FCP in avi.
I have file that on timeline shows that it’s 2 hours long.
After I exported it using QT copmpressor and saved it in avi it shows only like 2 minutes… I have no idea why it’s only 2 minutes long – and it weight like 13gb. Maybe there is something wrong in my preferences…??

    And second thing…
Is there any possibility to save this 2 hours long file from FCP using compressor and then DVDSP on one DVD disc ??

    Hi Marta,

Ill try to address both your issues in one operation.
In Final Cut – choose your sequence ->export as quicktime. do not change your settings – “use current settings”-> check “make movie self contained”. And off you go.

Open compressor – take your new file and drag it into compressor.
    – choose dvd settings 120min or whats best for you.
    – under “advanced formats” your avi option is available.

    hope this helps you out.
    good luck

if this does not work: what are your formats on video, sequense, avi, fcp version, … ?

If you have an in and out point on your sequence, that is what gets exported. Any chance you’ve got an in and out point of duration 2 minutes?

    Hi Martha.

    In compressor:
click your source media name, under “settings” – a bit to the right, there is “click the pop up to apply a setting”.
In the top of the list there is “advanced format conversions” – if you see your avi codec here; its great.
if not; you have to choose one of the settings, and go into the inspector on your chosen format and change “video settings” to your AVI codec.

    Hope this helps you out.
    best regards
    Andreas
