Exporting in 1920 x 1080 vs 1080 x 720
I am shooting footage in 24p on a Panasonic HVX 200. I delivered the finished product in 1080 x 720 initially (264) but they said it looked grainy and asked for it to be delivered in 1920 x 1080. I did not see what they were looking at and am baffled because the last two times I worked for this client (who simply uses the end product for YouTube and Facebook) they were fine with my delivery.
So the question is: for YouTube is there going to be a discernible difference between delivery in 1080 x 720 or 1920 x 1080. I can’t help but think I’m dealing with someone who just wants to play with my head.

If you shot 1080 and they want a 1080 Master,…give it to them, here are the youtube specs:

Thanks! The HVX doesn’t have actually have 1080p …the highest is 720p. There is 1080i but that isn’t going to give me anything more.
My wonderment is, if I’m shooting in 720p/24fps and I export in 1920×1080 will I get a higher rez product.

No. Shooting and editing 720 and then exporting a 1080 file will up-rez it, but you will not gain quality, in fact, there will be a small amount of quality loss.
The AG-HVX200 does shoot 1080i/60i/30p/24p

The HVX-200 can’t shoot an actual full raster 1920×1080 picture. Since it shoots in the DVCProHD format, it’s shooting anamorphic 1280×1080 and not true 1920×1080. For 720P, it’s actually shooting 920×720. The HVX-200 can’t shoot true full raster HD video so it’s always going to need to be scaled horizontally. Scaling will usually cause a loss in horizontal detail. Most editing software will recognize the format and scale it automatically.

Nobody said anything about full raster Tom.
We knows DVCPROHD is a thin raster format.The 200 shoots 1080p.
You can export to a 1920×1080 file just fine with that.
