Exporting HDV
Hi everybody,
I’m no stranger to FCP; however, I’m new to working with HDV so all the exporting options are a bit boggling to me right now…
I run with two cameras that shoot HDV tape at 1080i… Whats the best exporting option for this type of video. I’m looking for high quality that will go on DVD and eventually Blu-Ray.
Also, when in Compressor, do I just do the normal Mpeg2 dvd compression having already exported the .mov file in HD?

If you want a master file, export to ProRes422, not HDV. To do this, simply change your timeline compressor to ProRes and then go to FIle > Export > Quicktime Movie. Be sure the “Make Movie Self-Contained” box IS checked.
The easy way to encode for DVD with pretty good results: Bring your master file in compressor and drop the “DVD: Best Quality 90 Minutes” preset onto your file. This preset contains to settings: one for an MPEG encode, and another for an AC3 encode
