Exporting HD to Quicktime
Hello,
I am using Premiere CS4. I would like to export an animation I made from a sequence of 1920×1080 images.
Could anyone advice me on the settings (CODEC, pixel aspect ration, and so on) for exporting maximum quality?I tried to export in a few different settings and I always get low quality and wrong proportions.

Export to Quicktime Animation at 1920×1080 square pixels, or AVI with compression set to none.
These are not however codecs meant for playback. If you do need a playback codec, look at H.264 at 3Mb/s and up, or Windows Media at the same bitrate.

What do you want to do with the file?
If you just want the highest possible resolution quicktime, then use the Animation codec. If you want to play it back in real time – then you’ll have to compress it (bandwidth and size)- how much depends on where you want to play it (your computer, the internet. I find that the H.264 codec is better than quicktime (using the built in sorenson codec.) H.264 has more presets too (PC) — and it’s completely customizable. -
Thank you, this works well for the quality – but still the proportions aren’t right – the export comes as PAL proportions and not widescreen – so there are black edges on top and on the bottom of my clip (which has the right proportions).
How do I eliminate the black edges ?

I would also like to know how to remove the widescreen black bars at top and bottom of a quicktime export from a HD timeline…

ive just noticed this only happens when playing it back in google chrome. In IE the controls are half covered (as if the frame needs expanding in the height column – however this causes it not to play)
so in short, it seems this issue is browser specific

My mistake – I was using the PAL preset and didn’t change the 720×576 to 1920×1080 manually.
