I have some HD footage I am trying to bring into AE. I do not want to lose ANY bit of quality (file size is also not a problem). So I was wondering what is the best way to export my footage from AVID. I tried targa, but the playback is now grainy?

Export your clips/sequences in Avid’s DNxHD 145 codec.
If you AE box isn’t also your Avid box, you can download the Avid QT codecs and install them on systems without Avid.
In AE you’ll most likely need to interpret your footage as “upper field first”. After you are done, you can export your comps back out of AE using the Avid DNxHD codec. This will import nicely back into Avid.
Do some tests…see if the quality will work for you.
