  • Exporting from FCP with alpha channel

For keying purposes I have been trying to export clips from FCP to quick time with an Alpha channel. I have been using quick time conversion with the animation and millions of colors + settings, and frame rate 29.97. Once I export and bring the file back into FCP it doesn’t key. What am I doing wrong!? It’s probably something simple. Please can anyone help me?

I don’t think you’ve actually created an alpha channel in FCP. Did you key out, luma out, mask out the elements that will become the keyed out portions before exporting as ANIMATION + alpha

If you’re sure there’s an alpha….next, try going to the FCP selection, MODIFY/ALPHA/ STRAIGHT

Unrender the existing render file before exporting. Just toggle clip visibility: CNTRL + B. Then export the same way.

Don’t you have to put your clip on V2, and turn off V1 so that FCP doesn’t comp in black?
