Posted by Gil Sabag on August 10, 2010 at 9:40 pmMy freind edited a project for me on his avid system, the footage are MXF files 1440 by 1080i, what’s the best format or quality for him to export it in order for me to put it in my system, Ppro cs4, and make a high quality blu-ray?

August 10, 2010 at 11:44 pmUncompressed AVI, Quicktime uncompressed, or Quicktime Animation at 100%. All 1920×1080 square.

August 11, 2010 at 1:55 pmYou can also get the (free) Avid DNxHD codecs from Avid for your system. They are very good at the higher bit-rates, and can save some space. Might export faster from a Media Composer, too.

August 11, 2010 at 10:08 pmYour footage is 1440×1080 Anamorphic, the picture you are seeing on the screen however, is displaying at 1920×1080, I don’t know why you would want to keep it anamorphic

August 12, 2010 at 1:19 pm1440 x 1080 is 1920 x 1080 just with a 1.33 pixel aspect ratio.
1440 x 1.33 = 1920
its part of a compression technique used by various codecs.
in other words file resolution is 1440 horizontally….but the display resolution is actually 1920 (when horizontally scaled due to the Pixel aspect ratio)
