Exporting .flv file
Posted by Andy Crowson on April 26, 2011 at 11:12 amPretty basic this, but how do I export my movie from final cut so that it is a .flv file to use on my new website? I have FCP 6, and also Adobe CS5
Thanks a lot,
Andy

April 26, 2011 at 3:19 pmThanks. But now I’m a little confused as to whether to convert to the f4v (media encoder’s default setting)or the flv format (which web designer has instructed) – which is better, and briefly why? Can you point me in the direction of an article to read as I’ve had a good look and can’t find the information I’m after.
Cheers,
Andy

April 26, 2011 at 3:37 pmThere’s information about F4V and FLV files here.
They each have pros and cons. Here are the primary differences off the top of my head: FLV files can play in older versions of Flash Player, and they can contain an alpha channel. F4V files use more efficient compression.

April 27, 2011 at 4:04 amF4v is using the h.264 codec – Mpeg4 part 10
FLV is using the On2 VP6 codec – from Sorenson.Generally, the FLV works with older flash (and weaker systems)
F4V is using h.264 which is a more efficient codec at the same bandwidth.I fed into google, FLV vs. F4v and got this article (which is mostly right – it’s wrong about what kind of codec the F4V is)
