Exporting FCP sequence to AVI – Best Codec?
I have a sequence I need to export (and I’m a producer, not an editor — uh-oh!) and the client wants a .mov, but also a .avi and .wmv.
No problem with the .mov, but what is the best codec for .avi and .wmv? The original is in pro res 422.
Any help appreciated! Thanks. -

AVI is an container so can carry different codecs inside, but the options in a Mac are quite limited.
About WM, you can also find incompatibilities on PCs with the files compressed on Macs (Flip4Mac).
I would rather take the Prores to a PC and make the conversions there.

You also need to download and install the free Pro Res codecs for Windows. I don’t believe they are included automatically with the QT players.

Before was needed the PR reader, but now is included in QT for Window..
