  • exporting FCP QTs to Avid… need best co-deck that works

Posted by Philip Coccioletti on October 12, 2009 at 8:39 pm

Have a few QT movies created in FCP. Need to bring them into our power mac based avid. running avid MC soft 3.0.5 Files we have loaded are 1920x1080i. 16bit co-deck is Integer (Little Endian) I know the co-deck is wrong for Avid.
We can go back to the source in FCP and just export again but with what co-deck? What is the best way to do this?
Is there an easy way to take the ones we have on our drives with the wrong co-deck and convert them? have tried downloading the different apple co-decks with no luck. (do not want to load them into after effects – no thanks)

    appreciate the help

    phil

Does the AVID editor want them as 1920 x 1080 HD movies? If you download the AVID codec package you will be able to convert your Mac codec (uncompressed, ProRes or DVCProHD files) to AVID HD codec files pretty easily as a batch in Compressor or individually out of QT player or FCP.

I usually export uncompressed QuickTimes as 10 bit.
I import that into the AVID and render to the codec needed (not co deck)
