  • Exporting DV/NTSC using Quicktime Movie or Conversion?

Posted by Geo Monterosa on May 9, 2008 at 4:02 pm

The tapes are encoded at DV/NTSC quality. Sequence is same. I’m going to export using either:

    1. Export/Quicktime Movie with current settings or
    2. Export/Quicktime Conversion using DV/NTSC.

If I’m right, there is no need to export using conversion if I want to export as DV/NTSC, right? What possible difference can there be if the final export is DV/NTSC? Quility? I notice exporting both, conversion takes a longer time to export. Please shed some light on this.

    Geo,
    “Conversion” always recompress your footage.
I n general, try to avoid Conversion.

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
    G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.
