Hi Guys! I’m new here and working on Adobe Creative Suite CS3 not that long now.

I’m having a small problem with my current project. The material was recorder on DV quality (pal). Ive put it onto my Premiere, finished project (about 5 min comp.) and now want to export it into a movie file. it will gona be only played on PC (net/site). The thing is that, when i use different codecs i got few glitches. First of all the interlace is VERY visible and i would say extremly annoying. Then the quality is also poor. I tried many setting but nothin seams to work. I still get interlace or square artefacts.

I’m using Microsoft AVI File Type(and then different codecs). Should i use lover/upper fields (or progresive?) or maybe desitralace when exporting.

Please help ’cause i’m already start biting my monitor. Cheers for help and/or suggestions.

I’m in a NTSC region, so I will describe with NTSC numbers.

NTSC DV is 720×480, this is ‘full resolution’ for DV.
Typically web video ‘1/4 resolution’, 352×240 or 320×240.

Typically, desktop or web video should be deinterlaced.
1/4 Resolution video should always be deinterlaced.
To deinterlace in Premiere, right-click on the clips in the timeline and choose Field Options/Always Deinterlace.

If you are also going to be scaling down the video, from full resolution to 1/4 resolution, apply Video Effect/Distort/Transform to the clips.

The project should be set to No Fields (Fields: None or Progressive).

Export with Adobe Media Encoder. Try a Windows Media or QuickTime format. You may have to experiment with different compression settings to find the one that is right for you.
