I have a client who has exported the audio only from an mp4 for me to clean up in audition. After cleaning up the audio, when I go to save it, I’m offered mp3 or wav etc as options but not mp4 so I saved as wav.

When I try to import back into PP it says The file cannot be opened because of a header error.

Any thoughts? It has been suggested I just rename the original mp4 as an mp3 but my only concern about that is that the cleaned up audio won’t then sync to the original video. Am I wrong to be concerned about that?

P.S. the file he supplied is 6.5gb which seems huge for audio only. I’d like to export it back as a smaller size but, again, I’m concerned about the audio ending up out of sync with the original video file.

Any thoughts would be very much welcome.

    Still the same sadly.

I also had this problem recently. I believe it’s because wav files aren’t natively supposed to be larger than 4GB. The larger file sizes are allowed due to a workaround. However, I’ve been unable to import these into PP. I ended up breaking the file into shorter durations in Audition and stitching them back together – a process that seems unnecessary in this day and age.
