  • Exporting Audio EDL without a database

Posted by Tom Bailey on March 26, 2012 at 10:39 pm

    Hi,

The sound designer on my short film wants an EDL of the audio in my sequence without the video information.
I have tried using ‘cinema tools export audio edl’ through final cut pro but I gather it needs a database to link this up. We didn’t jam time codes together for sound and picture in production and I haven’t created a database during the process of the offline.
Is there a possible work around that shows sequence timecode and audio clips timecode in an EDL type form without me having to create this database.

Or is it likely one is created automatically and where would i find one?

I’m on Final Cut Pro 6.0.6.

Thanks for any help in advance.
    Bailey.

Duplicate the sequence. Delete all the picture from the duplicate.

    FILE>EXPORT>EDL.

You might need to do multiple export, as EDLs only support 4 tracks of audio.

Also make sure everything is unlinked before deleting the video as it may also delete audio
