I make animations and I need these as alternative downloads for the PC.. but how? its not available on the mac software ..anywhere .. or am I daft!

    Hi..

If I use ae and export as wmv it only produces about 1000 frames. of output.. how do I lengthen this output?

we see this issue about twice a week in the FCP and other Mac application forums. You have the free playback decoder called Flip4Mac. You must purchase the pro version of Flip4Mac to use the advanced output functions. the publisher of Flip pays Microsofot a lot of money to use the technology and you pay Flip. Or you purchase one of the bigger dedicated transcoders like Squeeze.

You can use the Animation codec to move large uncompressed files or standard DV. WMV would not be my choice for moving motion graphics around. AVI is merely a wrapper, like WMV or QT. There are few AVI codecs for the Mac.

MPEG Streamclip will convert your .mov files to .avi. It’s free and works great with a Mac. It doesn’t do .wmv files though as far as I know.

You can download MPEG Streamclip at http://www.squared5.com

    Thanks…

It seems I need to purchase something.

I have managed an avi with quicktime pro, and also I am having problems getting really good .mov outputs that have been compressed. I have tried all sorts of exports, almost every type. If I do go and buy something good which is best? flip4mac? squeeze?

I would have thought all this would have been sorted out with the main video packages! They should really be bundled.

what else could I look at? any other software names for me to research would be helpful thanks.

additionally, avi’s crap out on exports that go over 4gb out of QT on a mac. with sd you can usually get away with it but hd is a problem.. most nle’s will accept qt wrapped files especially with the animation codec.

you cant hear my inner voice scream… can you..?

Dream on. Too many licensing issues and don’t forget the egos of MrGates and MrJobs.
