    Hello!
Here’s my problem. I apply a luma key to a clip and then export it using the Quicktime conversion. I use the Animation codec, Millions+ colors and best quality. The clip on the timeline is unrendered to preserve the alpha matte on export. When I import the clip back to the timeline the alpha is intact and working, but it’s a stronger matte than what I exported. Elements that were opaque before the export are now partially transparent.
Any ideas on why this would be happening?
    Thanks,
    Brent

Not really but try selecting the different alpha settings on Item Properties.

The problem with Luma Keying is you may not be seeing the actual key or matte unless you turn off all underlying layers. Your timeline image may actually be less opaque than you think.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

You probably need to select premultiplied or straight alpha (pick the opposite of whatever it is set to now)

    Hey,

Thanks for the replies. I tried switching the alpha type around without much luck.

Here are a couple of screen grabs showing the difference between the pre and post export alphas.

Again, I’m adding a luma key, matte choker and a gaussian blur affecting the alpha channel. The clip remains unrendered on the timeline. I’m exporting using the Animation codec, millions of colors+, best quality. If you need any more info on settings or anything, let me know.

    Thanks again,

    Brent
