September 23, 2006 at 12:32 amI don’t know of a way to do it directly, but here’s something I tried. I put the Quicktime Movie with alpha on V1. Then I put a White rectangle on V2, scaled it up to fill the screen. I selected the white rectangle (V2) and used “composite mode” (under “Modify”) and chose “Travel Matte – Alpha”. Rendered. Now I could export that sequence and have the equivalent of “just the alpha channel”.

September 23, 2006 at 11:50 amHi,
In other programms you got the choice (when export with the adequated codec) to export only Alpha (AE, Combustion..).
In FC you can not.
I’ve never tryed but what Mark points is the way. In the end you have to get a B&W image. The Black are the transparent areas and the white the solids. This image you can apply like a matte in a composition.
