  • Exporting AAF from FCP7 using Automatic Duck – QUICK QUESTION

Posted by Michelle Kaufer on June 28, 2015 at 9:33 am

    Hi All,
I need to export only certain sections of my timeline into an AAF – is there a way to tell Automatic Duck to only export these sections?
I set an In and Out but it still exports the entire timeline.
Do I need to move each section onto it’s own timeline?

I appreciate your help – have to get this done asap

    THANKS
    Michelle

What assistant picture editors usually do is duplicate the main sequence and call the duplicate “For Post Sound” or something similar. In this duplicated sequence, disabled clips are deleted and anything else not needed are deleted from the timeline. You can then use Automatic Duck to export this sequence.

    Hi Ryan
Thank you. I duplicated the sequence, disabled the clips then exported the AAF.
Do you know if the export still exports those clips even though they’re disabled?
Do you recommend going back in and deleting the disabled clips?
    Thanks!!

I honestly can’t remember. You can send me test AAFs if you want to try to see if it still exports disabled clips. And yes I do recommend deleting disabled clips. It might do more harm than good?

    Thanks Ryan
I won’t be back in front of it for at least 2-3 hours from now.

I won’t be able to attach the files here but if you’re cool with it , you can email me at michellekaufer@gmail.com
And I’ll respond right away with my number etc
    Thanks
    Michelle
