  • Exporting AAF error….

Posted by Michael Vitacco on May 29, 2012 at 4:40 am

Hi, guys. I’m trying to export an AAF from my sequence and am continually met with this error:

Cannot embed audio because “/Volumes/Capture Scratch….002/RAW/CONTENTS/CLIPS001/AA0033/AA003301.MXF” also contains video. Only audio-only media files can be embedded.

That is for each of the 50+ clips is have in the sequence.

Not sure what is wrong here. I’m working with all interview footage shot on a C300. I understand of course that the MXF file “contains video” but am I missing something with how to export the audio tracks only? I’m not sure why, when exporting the AAF, I’d have to specify that but would like to know how to do this or how you guys get around this. Is it a bug and you can only use OMFs?

I haven’t had much luck exporting AAFs or OMFs without some sort of error.

I may try to export an OMF (which seems to work properly), import into Pro Tools, THEN export an AAF from Pro Tools. Not the most common of workarounds but I’ll keep any of you posted as to how it works out. Otherwise, please send any advice. Thanks!

Has anyone has any success with this yet?
I’m coming up with the same error message on PP CC:
“Cannot embed audio because “File name” also contains video. Only audio-only media files can be embedded.”

What puzzles me is that this works fine from FCP6 using Automatic Duck, and the guys who built the Duck are now working for Adobe! Can’t believe they haven’t got this vital part of pro workflow functioning!

I have managed to export an OMF but the file size is limited to 2GB and we have some big projects. One last week was 11GB, so that means cutting the sequence into 6 sections… not very time efficient!

Anyone got any thoughts or insight?
    Thanks
