Exporting a movie with an alpha channel, possible?
My motion graphic artist is importing movies (.mov) with Premiere from After effects and the alpha channel remains. However, when we tries to export from Premiere using .mov he ends up losing the alpha channel when he brings it back to After Effects. What should he do to retain the alpha channel when exporting out of Premiere?

Export using a Codec like Animation or if you’re on a Mac with Final Cut, ProRes 4444. Be sure to check the maximum bit depth, as sometimes (unlike in After Effects) it doesn’t say “millions of colors+.” That should do it.

In addition to the information in the link that Todd provided, if you decide to output ProRes4444 instead of the other formats, it will be 48 bits instead of 32 bits.

Do need actual partial transparency on these files from PPro? Or…just an alpha channel?
