    Guys

Spose this is a no brainer for some, but how do I export a single clip from the timeline in FCP4 for use in other programs e.g. AE or motion?

thanks in advance for your help.

Place the playhead over the clip you want to export. Next press the “x” key, this will mark an in point at the beginning and an end point at the end of the clip. Choose export from the file menu and select QuickTime movie. Name the file and select the destination.

This doesn’t work on my machine for an m2v.

How do you export an mpeg2 of just the in-out area of the timeline?

    Thanks

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post. Currently, what version of FCP are you using? If you are using version 4.0 through 4.5 (HD) then all you need to do is set the in and out points in your timeline and export using Compressor. If you are using version 3, you will need to export using QuickTime conversion. Please let me know if this helps.
