exporting
I’ve been trying to export a one hour project, edited in HDV 1080i60, and I’d like to export the uncompressed file, which appears to be about 10GB, to take it to a station to have it closed captioned and put onto tape for broadcast, but I’m running into some trouble. Using Quicktime Export and selecting “make self contained movie” setting and popping the whole thing over to a 16GB flash drive, the file won’t play and I get an error message directing me to the quicktime site to download some software, but the list of downloads is long and there doesn’t seem to be one that is just right for the job.

Flash drives use FAT32 format which won’t allow a file bigger than 2 gig. Copy it to an external hard drive that is Mac formatted.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try, but I’ve also had trouble putting a smaller file on a data DVD, so I’m not sure that’s the issue.

Thanks, Rafael: encoding is my weak spot. I’d love to see a book or some other document that uses an “if-than” approach: “If you have a FCP timeline that you want to export to DVD, use THIS codec and THESE settings” kind of thing.

Hi Tom,
Just transcode your 10b Unc to Prores, keeping the rest of the parameters.
You will reduce by 8 folders the file size while keeping the quality.
