    Hi Creative Cow Forum,

I’ve been exporting my movie to quicktime formats. But the movie normally wont play fine the first time through. It seems like I have to play it 10 times or so before it’ll play smoothly through (maybe loading into ram or so?). The problem is the screen will stay locked and the time marker keeps going. I have to stop and play it again to unfreeze the screen. However, if I scrub through using the quicktime marker, (whether it be the first time or the 10th time) the screen does not stutter (however I cannot move my arm and the marker to match time so I dont want to keep doing this). The movie is in 720×480.

I donno if it makes a difference but my computer specs are:

    Windows XP
    Amd Dual Core 2.21
    2 GB Ram
    Geforce 7950GT

I know those may be a little low, but I do this stuff for fun and dont have the budget for a higher powered machine =)

Anyways, is this a known problem? Is there anyway to fix this? Or does this sound like my machine is too slow? Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

What compression are you using to export the movie? If you are using the animation (lossless) compression, your playback will be choppy. There is just too much data too process.

Try exporting it using the preset DV settings and the movie should play fine on your desktop.

Thanks, I’ll try that. I forget the compression I am using. But thanks again.
