My source footage is DvcproHD 720P/24PN. I just want a decent looking DVD out of it. I have done this before by exporting to:
    Mpeg2DVD
    720×480
    16:9
    muxed
    VBR 6-9
then burning those files (without re-encoding) with…I want to say DVD Studio Pro. However, I only have Nero and Encore available right now. Nero re-encodes the Mpeg2 files and they look horrible on DVD. So I sent the files to Encore through dynamic link…I still don’t really understand how Encore works.

Is there any way to get these Mpeg2 files onto dvd without re-encoding. Could someone suggest an authoring program that is easier to use than encore, but has more features than the really basic burning programs like nerovision. Also – even if I found a way to prevent Nero from re-encoding the files I just encoded in Premiere, I don’t think it will allow me to burn a 24fps DVD.

I’m thinking I can’t use Nero. I’m hoping I don’t have to learn Encore. Any ideas as to what I should do?

    Hi Logan,

Nero is great for.. well not much other than taking over your computer and causing drives to disappear if dare to remove it.

DVD studio pro, I never used.

If you bought Encore, why not crack open that manual?

It’s pretty straight forward after even a few minutes of reading the “get started” part of the help file.

Dynamic link to Encore is even more straight forward. If you need a menu, apply a template or create your own in Photoshop / After Effects (needs more reading 🙂

Choose your encode setting (7.5 Mb/s CBR for anything under 1 hour) use a bit rate calculator for anything over that.

    Thanks Vince,

I think I just needed some one to make me do it the hard way. I checked out some online tutorials, and it was pretty straight forward once I got the basics down.
