    Hi there,
I created subtitles in After Effects for a final cut movie – the movie is layer one, the subtitles are text layers 2 to 68. I can’t export it correctly.
    Have tried 4 options:
    1) I export it with DV PAL settings (that’s the settings of the final cut movie and the comp). The result is blurry, there is an obvious loss in quality.
2)Have tried the animation codec. The movie is sharper but the colors are off (darker and have a green cast).
3)Tried to export uncompressed (none for codec). same result as animation.
4)Exported just the subtitles with alpha, imported into final cut … and it looks worse than final cut text – fuzzy and chopped up. When I open them with quicktime they look great.

Does anybody know what’s going on? it is very frustrating.

Thank you so much for your replies.

Have you viewed them on a broadcast monitor? FCP is notoriously bad for its desktop previews.

Also, any video put in your FCP sequence will be rendered into the codec specified in the sequence settings and likely lose quality due to compression.

Thanks Darby, I figured it out. It was a field dominance problem. I changed it to none (it was shot progressive) in after effects and the video came out fine.
