  • Exported DaVinci XML but there’s no colour in FCP 7!

Posted by Christie Allanson on January 21, 2017 at 8:03 pm

    Hi,

I colour graded my film in DaVinci, all fine, rendered/exported the timeline (as a whole film) all fine. Exported an XML using the FCP7 XML preset.

Now I’m back in FCP, opened my XML to add graphics, it’s opened fine – some footage has been resized etc but I can deal with that – but there is none of my colour grading that I’ve done! Can any one advise please?

    Thank you

an XML from Resolve will just open the original clips in FCP, correct?

if you exported the film as one continuous file,
seems like you need to import that file back into FCP

If, on the DELIVERY page, chose the FCP 7 XML option, it would then export out as individual files, as well as an XML. Then you import that XML into FCP 7 and it will link to the newly graded files. If you export a full, stand alone QT file, then you need to bring that file into FCP 7…IMPORT, like Nick said. If you render out the full movie, and then just export an XML of your sequence…the XML will reference the clips used in the sequence…the original ones you brought in from FCP…ungraded. Only way to get an XML to reference NEW graded files is how I mention above.

Thanks for getting back to me.
So basically I should go back to DaVinci and export as individual clips, and try again.

    Thanks for you help!
