Exported AVI
Hi,
I exported an 1.20 hour AVI and it doesn’t seem to be working properly.
When opening up the AVI file back in Premiere it works fine, but when played in Windows Media Player or Encore DVD it gets about 20 seconds into it and the audio cuts out in Encore and it stops completely in Media Player saying something about not enough system resources. I’ve shut down every other program and it still done it.
The problem occurs in the exact same spot every time aswell, in both Media Player and Encore.
My PC is relatively new. It’s 3.0GHz Pentium D, 1Gb Ram – which is a bit low I know, but never caused a problem.
Is it a problem with the AVI file (I’ve re-exported it with the same results) or is it a problem with Encore/Media Player?
Will my DVD still work when exported out of Encore?
What can I do to fix this?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Premiere are you using. Later versions of media player will play the AVI as well as Encore 1.0 and above. Are you exporting to your system hard drive, or do you have a second AV drive? Are your drives NTFS, or FAT32? It could be several Hardware issues as well. If you haven’t already done so, you might try and encode to an m2v file out of Premiere and take into Encore as an Asset, instead of the AVI.

I’m using Premiere Pro 2, Encore 1.5, and I’m guessing the latest Media Player. If it would make a difference I’m also running XP x64.
The computer is relatively new and this is the first ‘large’ project I’ve worked on. I do have only a single 300Gb Hard Drive, so yeah, it is the system hard drive (wouldn’t have a clue if it’s NTFS or FAT32). My old computer has a 40Gb and a 120Gb, so the system and AV files were seperated. Maybe this is the problem?
I haven’t tried exporting a m2v out of Premiere. I will.
Could this cause a compression loss issue?I’m pretty sure I’ve always just taken the avi into encore and let encore do the encoding. So will encoding it before encore cause quality issues? -

Everyone will tell you running XP64 is a little premature as not all hardware and software is debugged to run together yet. That aside, Adobe Apps run fine in XP64 in 32 bit emulation mode, including the AVI and M2v export. No difference. That does not mean it does so with all hardware. Also you can set PPro 2 export settings to be very much the same as Encore 1.5 However, for your exports to just suddenly quit tells me that if your computer is relatively new, you may need to get it back to the vendor it was purchased from. I wish I could be more help, but I do not have any better answer. -

Is this talking about the compressed m2v export or the AVI? I understand how to set the m2v settings, but was unaware that there were AVI settings (if that’s the case), how can I do this?That aside. There’s another piece of information that may be useful. Since getting my new PC I haven’t been able to burn a DVD directly from Premiere (not registering DVD burners, posted elsewhere), so I have imported short AVI files into encore and they have worked fine. That’s why I have a feeling that this has something to do with the file size.
