I need to supply some footage from Final Cut Pro to supply to an Avid editor.
Should I just export as a quicktime movie or should I be adjusting the settings?

Some of the vision is in Standard Definition Pal, some is in HDV 1080i. (not on the same timeline)
The Avid editor will be using this for broadcast so I expect they are working in HD.

    Thanks

What version of Avid are they using?

They will not be able to see the HDV footage at all. That codec is proprietary to FCP systems only. Converting that to ProRes would be wise….but really, you need to know what version of Avid Media Composer they are using. If it is VERY old, which is common, they might not be able to use ProRes either.

Downloading the Avid codecs, and converting to that, would be very helpful.

If you want it easy, export to XD-cam.
No codec hassle, no gamma issues, fast import (native) on Avid,
    very decent quality.
Export SD as SD, HD as HD, and let the Avid editor worry about up/down convert if needed.

I’m going to cover all bases; A pro-res version (I think this company would have quite an up to date Avid system), plus the xd-cam version.

“Export SD as SD, HD as HD, and let the Avid editor worry about up/down convert if needed”
One query on this; When exporting the SD, the only xd-cam option is HD.

    cheers

    No, SD/HD isn’t an option. Datarate is…
Never thought about it, but probably your sequence (or project) settings are set to HD.
