  • Export using current settings is different from original?

Posted by Tw on November 1, 2010 at 5:58 am

I am currently trying to export a project that is 720×480 anamorphic. It looks perfect in the viewer. When I export it using ‘current settings’ it looks different than in the viewer. The video is squeezed (everyone looks skinnier than they are).

The original footage was shot and edited in 1080i then moved to a DV timeline.

‘Anamorphic 16:9’ is checked, ‘pixel aspect ratio’ is ‘square’ (this fattened the heads to normal proportions). Again, it looks like I want it in the viewer.

I’ve tried different settings and compressions and I keep getting the same result. Why isn’t current settings working?

    Thanks.

CURRENT settings are Anamorphic. Anamorphic, in case you didn’t know, is squeezed. People are skinny and pressed. The Viewer and Canvas unsqueeze this image so you can see it right when you edit. But if you export with CURRENT SETTINGS, you are exporting an anamorphic file…squeezed. If you don’t want it squeezed…then you need to export square pixels, and with 16:9 dimensions.
