While trying to export my DVCPRO HD project from FCP (Final Cut Studio 2) using the “Export Using Compressor” option, the export seems to continually fail. Compressor says the reason is that FCP is failing. I’m in a tight time crunch – any advice would be great!

Export a self-contained QuickTime Movie at current settings from FCP and bring that into Compressor.

    All the best,

    Tom

Will that lessen the image quality at all?

Export Using Compressor does not use your FCP render files…it re-renders all your effects to directly to MPEG-2 (or whatever you are compressing to in Compressor), without first compressing to DVCPRO-HD.

This theoretically can produce a cleaner encode, but I have never been able to see a difference…certainly not enough of one to deal with the massively increased encode time.
