Export to Tape problems
Hi, all —
I have had troubles outputting programs to tape from Premiere Pro 1.5 over the firewire. I get occasional audio stutters. They never happen at the same time on the timeline if I stop and try outputting again, so it doesn’t seem to be something corrupt in the timeline, but they happen virtually any time I’ve tried outputting to tape.
Here’s my setup:
Dell inspiron XPS Gen 2 laptop
Pentium M, 2GHz, 2MB cache
XP Pro
256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 Ultra video card
2 Gig Ram
Western Digital external Firewire Hard DriveFirewire output to Sony DSR 45 Deck, and when that failed I tried sending it to a Sony PD-100, and a PD-170. No luck on any of the above.
I thought it might be through-put from the external drive, so I re-rendered the half hour program to the internal hard drive and then built a new project to output that half hour. No luck, there, either.
Any suggestions? Any clues as to the problem? What am I missing? I’ve never been able to get a stable output on this system and am starting to get a little worried about it.

Is the firewire O.K ? That would be what I would check first.
What are you exporting to the tape ? Does it play o.k on the timeline by itself ?

Good idea to check the firewire cable; I’ll do that tomorrow….
It’s a half-hour news show and plays just fine from the timeline, and I use firewire out from the computer through the deck to monitor editing on an NTSC monitor, and have noticed from time to time that the monitor goes blue, so maybe that’s the problem. We just got a passel of new firewire cables, so hopefully that’s the issue.
