  • “Export to SRT file” error: on every line!!!!

For a while now, I’ve been having an issue exporting captions. For some reason, “” would appear before and after each and every line in the SRT file. Of course, this created an issue when trying to post the file on YouTube.

I JUST discovered the cause for the error. In addition to selecting “Bold” as the Font Style, I had selected “Faux Bold”. (Just to the left of the “Faux Italic” button.) So, be VERY careful when selecting the style or else your exported SRT file will be useless!

By the way, the font I was using was Arial Rounded MT Pro. I don’t know whether this issue appears with all fonts.

Hmm…This site won’t even display the characters that appeared in the SRT. It’s the “less than” symbol, the letter b, and “greater than” symbol.

    Hey Chris,

This is great info, which will save the rest of us time, thank you very much.

I would have thought that a “basic” SRT file would export the basics only, according to whatever standard is chosen?
But that would potentially remove all formatting, including branding and other creative choices.
