I have had trouble the last 2 weeks exporiting quicktime movies with alpha channels. The movie export settings are:

    alpha _ straight
    compression type _ DV/DVCPRO
    Lower Field
    High Quality
    better quality field rendering

I have reset the factory settings and reset tab setting.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The previous message should have includedl: Does anyone know why I cannot export a QT movie with the alpha channel?

Dv codecs don’t contain alpha channels Choose the animation or none for codec.

I have tried the animation and “none” settings and the QT file still renders with a black backgound. Viewing the composite window while playing down the timeline I see the checkerboard pattern. When the movie file is rendering the black background shows in the composite window during the render.

When rendering with the animation codec make sure million colors + is highlighted (the plus means alpha channel).

Millions+ was the answer. Thanks so much.
