Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Export to IMAX

    Hello,

    I am screening a commercial on the IMAX. I have an uncompressed 10bit 4 4 4 file that’s 99.45GB. my computer can’t test it.

    Questions:

    1. should I transfer this file to film, if so what kind, and how much will it cost?

    2. since they have the output capability, should i just export a pro res 422 HQ file and burn it to play from a computer instead?

    3. my 3rd option is to burn a regular SD DVD and play it on a projector.

I obviously want the highest quality playback, but hoping someone can give me some insight on this.

    Thanks,

    Keith

You really should be in contact with the IMAX theatre and see what they can playback. Obviously a file and digital projection would be preferable to a film transfer which is very expensive and opens a can of worms with LUTs and other issues.
